Abstract

ABSTRACT Lake Sentani area is a destination area located under the Slopes of the Cyclops Mountains Nature Reserve, with a lake area of 9,360 hectares and is at an altitude of 75 meters above sea level. This area offers many beautiful and unique tourist destinations. The Lake Sentani area is a flagship for the region in increasing the economic growth of local communities through tourism in the Lake Sentani Area. Utilization of Lake Sentani Area, requires support from every element of society, local government support and especially the efforts of the Jayapura Regency Cultural and Tourism Office apparatus. The purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the efforts of the Jayapura Regency Cultural and Tourism Office to increase the number of tourists in the Lake Sentani Area of Jayapura Regency. The research method that the author uses is a descriptive Qualitative research method with an inductive approach. Data collection is carried out by interview techniques, observations, and documentation. Data analysis techniques consisting of data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results showed that the efforts made by the Jayapura Regency Culture and Tourism Office to attract tourists through the use of information technology but have not run optimally because there is not update related to tourism-related information. the next attempt made by DISKUBPAR Jayapura Regency Government also needs to increase public awareness in the form of empowerment and assistance from DISKUBPAR around the Wiri Furnace Tourist Attraction but it is not too optimal because it is only limited to the maintenance of facilities and infrastructure at Wiri Furnace attractions this of course cannot increase public awareness around tourist attractions.
