Abstract

Background (Gap): Desa Tanggul Tlare is a coastal area highly vulnerable to abrasion. Environmental degradation has directly resulted in land loss, disrupted community access, and decreased local welfare. Objective: This study aims to assess the impact of the mangrove forest rehabilitation program on the welfare of the community in Desa Tanggul Tlare. Method: The research employed a mixed methods approach with a sequential transformative strategy. Data collection techniques included questionnaires administered to 71 respondents, in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test to compare community welfare before and after the rehabilitation program. Results: Findings indicate that the mangrove rehabilitation program significantly improved four dimensions of community welfare: increased income, environmental health, educational awareness, and social relationships. Economic activities such as ecotourism and processing mangrove-based products (chips, wingko cake, and coffee) expanded business opportunities and reduced local poverty levels. Conclusion: The mangrove rehabilitation program is effective as both an ecological and socio-economic solution to combat abrasion and enhance community welfare. This program is recommended as a sustainable and climate-adaptive coastal management model. Keywords: Mangrove Rehabilitation, Community Welfare, Ecotourism, Abrasion, Jepara.
