Abstract
ABSTRAK Permasalahan: Masih adanya perbedaan hasil yang jauh dalam pemilihan legislatif 2024 Daerah Pemilihan 4 Kota Pontianak Provinsi Kalimantan Barat yang didasari oleh perbedaaan identitas bakal calon legislatif. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis politik identitas pada pemilihan legislatif tahun 2024 di Daerah Pemilihan IV Kecamatan Pontianak Timur, Kota Pontianak. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, serta mengacu pada teori politik identitas Pierre L. van den Berghe yang mencakup perspektif primordialisme, konstruksionisme, dan instrumentalisme. Adapun data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan informan kunci, observasi lapangan, serta dokumentasi. Hasil/Temuan: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa politik identitas terbentuk dari masyarakat sendiri yang memilih calon berasal dari kesamaan identitas mereka. Berdasarkan dari data etnis yang menempati Kalimantan Barat, perilaku memilih dalam kecamatan Pontianak Timur cenderung memilih perwakilan berdasarkan etnis yang sama dengan mereka. Akan tetapi tidak menimbulkan persaingan atau memicu terjadinya konflik. Hal ini menandakan adanya politik identitas yang terjadi dalam skala kecil tidak menganggu secara signifikan. Kesimpulan: Dampak politik identitas ini bersifat dualistik; secara positif, ia meningkatkan partisipasi politik dan keterlibatan komunitas; namun secara negatif, ia berpotensi memecah belah masyarakat serta memperkuat sentimen eksklusivitas berdasarkan identitas kelompok. Studi ini menyarankan perlunya peningkatan pendidikan politik agar masyarakat lebih mempertimbangkan kapabilitas dan program calon dibanding latar belakang identitas mereka Kata kunci: Politik Identitas; Pemilu Legislatif 2024; Pontianak Timur. ABSTRACT Problem Statement: There are still significant differences in the results of the 2024 legislative elections for Electoral District 4, Pontianak City, West Kalimantan Province, which are based on differences in the identities of the prospective legislative candidates. Purpose: his study aims to analyze identity politics in the 2024 legislative election in Electoral District IV, Pontianak Timur District, Pontianak City.Method: This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, and refers to Pierre L. van den Berghe's theory of identity politics which includes the perspectives of primordialism, constructionism, and instrumentalism. The data were collected through in-depth interviews with key informants, field observations, and documentation.Result: he results of the study show that identity politics is formed from the community itself who chooses candidates from their shared identity. Based on data on ethnic groups occupying West Kalimantan, voting behavior in Pontianak Timur District tends to choose representatives based on the same ethnicity as them. However, it does not cause competition or trigger conflict. This indicates that the existence of identity politics that occurs on a small scale does not interfere significantly. Conclusion: The impact of identity politics is dualistic; positively, it increases political participation and community involvement; but negatively, it has the potential to divide society and strengthen feelings of exclusivity based on group identity. This study suggests the need for increased political education so that people consider the capabilities and programs of candidates more than their identity background.
