Abstract
ABSTRACT Background: Regional head elections are one of the pillars of democracy that provide space for the community to directly determine local leaders. In this context, campaign strategies are crucial to build a positive image and attract voter support. Purpose: This study aims to analyze Erna Lisa Halaby's political impression management in the 2024 Banjarbaru City regional head election campaign. Method: This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. Result: The results of the study show that Erna Lisa Halaby's political impression management is rhetoric that invites and builds closeness to the community by means of a direct approach to the field to be able to interact directly and listen to the aspirations of the community. In terms of appearance, she uses clothing and gestures to reflect leadership that is close to the people by dressing simply or not too luxuriously and choosing colors that are not too flashy and pleasing to the eye. In addition, the personality displayed in the campaign emphasizes the values of togetherness, simplicity, and friendliness to all groups of society and always provides a self-image as a sincere person and is committed to bringing about better change in the future. Conclusion: This study concludes that political impression management plays a significant role in shaping public perception of candidates. And this study has a suggestion that the right communication strategy combined with appearance and character that are in accordance with public expectations can increase the electability of a regional head candidate. This study also contributes to the field of political studies and becomes a reference for political candidates in developing effective campaign strategies.
