Abstract
Problems/Background (GAP): South Manokwari Regency is one example of an area that has potential in the agricultural sector, with the dominance of people who work as farmers. Cocoa plants are one of the leading sectors of community economic development in Ransiki District, South Manokwari Regency and are the main income contributor to the community in Ransiki District, but cocoa farmers are not fully viable with their business. Objective: from this study is to find out the extent of empowerment that has been carried out by the Food Security and Agriculture Service of South Manokwari Regency in Ransiki District, the obstacles faced and efforts to deal with these obstacles. The methods: used are qualitative descriptive with an inductive approach and data collection techniques through interviews, observations and documentation. Results/Findings: Methods used are qualitative descriptive with an inductive approach and data collection techniques through interviews, observations and documentation.Conclusion: The empowerment of cocoa farmers in increasing productivity is divided into four categories: human development, business development, environmental development, and institutional development. Keywords: empowerment of cacao farmers, income, cultivation Permasalahan/Latar Belakang (GAP): Kabupaten Manokwari Selatan merupakan salah satu contoh daerah yang memiliki potensi di sektor pertanian, dengan dominasi masyarakat berprofesi sebagai petani. Tanaman Kakao menjadi salah satu sektor unggulan pembangunan perekonomian masyarakat di Distrik Ransiki Kabupaten Manokwari Selatan serta menjadi komoditi unggulan penyumbang pendapatan utama bagi masyarakat di Distrik Ransiki, namun petani kakao belum sepenuhnya berdaya maju dengan usahanya tersebut. Tujuan: dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pemberdayaan yang telah dilakukah oleh Dinas Ketahanan Pangan dan Pertanian Kabupaten Manokwari Selatan di Distrik Ransiki, hambatan yang dihadapi serta usaha guna menghadapi hambatan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan induktif serta Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil/Temuan: Metode yang digunakan kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan induktif serta Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Kesimpulan: Pemberdayaan petani kakao dalam meningkatkan produktivitas oleh terbagi dalam empat kategori ialah bina manusia, bina usaha, bina lingkungan, dan bina kelembagaan.
