Abstract

Background (GAP): The problem in the research is that the political participation of Karang Anyar Pantai Subdistrict is the lowest among the subdistricts in Tarakan City and does not reach the target level of political participation set by the KPU. The study of political culture uses the theories of Gabriel Almond and Sydney Verba. In this research, the focus is on patterns of political orientation, types of political culture, and influencing factors. Objective: The aim of this research is to determine the type of political culture and the factors that influence the political culture of the people of Karang Anyar Pantai Village. Method: Qualitative approach using semi-structured interview data collection techniques and documentation. An interview research instrument with the aim of obtaining information that will later answer recommendations and solutions from the results of data and analysis obtained through the informant's answers. Meanwhile, documentation is used to support the validity of research implementation. The data analysis techniques used by the author in this research are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or validation. Research instrument. Results/Findings: The results of this research are that the people of Karang Anyar Pantai Subdistrict have a subject or kaula type of political culture. Conclusion: The people of Karang Anyar Pantai Subdistrict have a subject or kaula type of political culture and the influencing factors are the preference to vote based on personal relationships, the preference to generate income from their work which is prioritized over participation in the political process, and the government's lack of attention to community aspirations.
