Abstract
ABSTRACT Problem Statement/Background (GAP): (Contains the background behind the research). The average amount of Arabica coffee production in 2020 decreased drastically to 0.45 tons, whose production is vulnerable to falling compared to 2018 and 2019 which can still feel and enjoy the results of coffee production even though the amount of coffee production and income does not reach the average and between between the problems faced by group leaders and farmers. This resulted in more unprocessed and unsold produce with a total of 23.7 tons. And when compared to 2018 and 2019 the amount of unprocessed production is greater. Purpose; to analyze the empowerment of coffee farming communities in improving the economy, in order to exist and survive in improving the quality of coffee production, in addition to explaining the supporting factors and inhibiting factors of coffee farmers Method: This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods with an inductive approach, where the authors obtain data by means of interviews, observation and documentation Result Community Empowerment of Coffee Farmers in Increasing Community Income in Walesi District is generally considered to have been going quite well, but there are several things that need to be improved and addressed. The inhibiting factor is the lack of adequate and competent human resources at the Jayawijaya Regency Agriculture Service, namely the lack of functional staff who serve as assistants and agricultural extension workers. Lack of access to capital provided to coffee farming communities. The supporting factors are Counseling, Mentoring, and training provided by the Agriculture Service of Jayawijaya Regency with the aim of increasing knowledge and improving the abilities and skills of the coffee farming community.Conclusion: implementation of community empowerment activities for coffee farmers that can be carried out by the Department of Agriculture in Walesi District, Jayawijaya Regency by 1) increasing community knowledge and skills 2) improving the quality of production and marketing 3) increasing the quantity and quality of facilities and infrastructure.
