Abstract
Problem/Background (GAP) : The author focuses on the issue of the economic empowerment of small industry of banana chips based on creative evonomy by the department of trade, corporative and UKM East Luwu Regency South Sulawesi Province. Objective : The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the economic empowerment of the small banana chip industry based on the creative economy in Tarengge Village, the inhibiting factors and the efforts made by the Disdagkop-UKM East Luwu Regency in overcoming the inhibiting factors. Methods : This research is a descriptive qualitative research methods and using the theory by Murtyoso (2015).. Findings : The findings obtained by the researcher are economic empowerment of the small banana chip industry in Tarengge Village based on the four factors of economic empowerment by Murtyoso (2015) had been implemented well but there are still obstacles in its implementation. Conclusion : the indicators of empowerment are going well in the implementation of empowerment carried out by the depertement of trade, coorporatives and UKM East Luwu Regency. The existence of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the lack of understanding of business actors regarding the development and development program of UKM and the limited availability of raw materials for horn are factors that hinder this activity. The efforts made by the Disdagkop-UKM include providing capital and assistance for small banana chip industry businessmen in Tarengge Village, increasing human resource capacity and empowering SDM in East Luwu Regency, as well as the distribution program of horn banana seeds by Disdagkop-UKM East Luwu Regency.
