Abstract
ABSTRACT Problem Statement/ Background (GAP): The author focuses on the problem of understanding and knowledge of the Batang community in the use of technology which is still considered below average, especially in rural areas and ignorance of applications and mass media that provide information services. Purpose :the purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the News Channel website in publishing and informing the public about government activities by the Department of Communication and Information Technology in Batang Regency. Methods: qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview, observation, and documentation methods. The data were analyzed by means of preliminary studies and data collection. Results/Findings: The findings obtained by the author in this study are that the Batang Regency Government tries its best to publish or provide information related to government to the public, both through print media and social media, one of which is through the news channel website. Conclusion: The Batang Regency news channel website system which is addressed at www.berita.batangkab.go.id has a good quality website but is still not effective in providing information to the public because there are only a few website visitors every month. This is inversely proportional to the number of internet users in Batang Regency. Keywords:Effectiveness, Information, Publication
