Abstract
Abstract Problem Statement/Background (GAP): Population growth caused by urbanization in cities has an impact on increasing demand for land, whether it will be used for social, cultural or economic needs. In addition to causing social problems, the lack of availability of vacant land can also lead to disasters such as flooding due to the absence of adequate catchment areas. The increasing number of residents in Tangerang City has caused many buildings to be built without permits or illegal buildings, such as in city parks, railroad tracks, and river borders. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the role of the Civil Service Police Unit in Controlling Illegal Buildings in Tangerang City, and to describe and analyze the inhibiting and supporting factors, as well as to describe and analyze the efforts to overcome the obstacles. Methods: The research design used is a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used are interviews, documentation and observation. The theory used by the researcher is the role theory according to Soekanto. Result: The results of this study indicate that the Civil Service Police Unit in Controlling Illegal Buildings in Tangerang City has played a role and is running. As for the inhibiting factors, namely 1) lack of personnel, 2) limited availability of facilities and infrastructure, 3) limited budget availability, 4) lack of public awareness of the applicable regional regulations. The supporting factors are, 1) good quality of Human Resources (HR), 2) good communication and coordination in the internal and external environment of the Tangerang City Civil Service Police Unit. Conclusion: Based on the research that has been done, the researcher concludes that the role of the Civil Service Police Unit in controlling illegal buildings in Tangerang City helps the Regional Government in enforcing the applicable Regional Regulations.
