Abstract
ABSTRACT Problem Statement/Background (GAP): (Contains the background behind the research). During the simultaneous regional elections, the election of the Regent and Deputy Regent for the 2020- 2025 period in Majene Regency, the level of community participation in Majene Regency was quite successful even though at the time of the Pilkada it was still in a COVID-19 pandemic condition, as evidenced by the percentage level of voter turnout in Majene Regency. exceeding the target of the Provincial KPU, which is 77.6%, even exceeding the target of the Central KPU, which is 77.5%. However, among the people of Majene there is still a lack of knowledge about Political Education and Socialization. This is an important phenomenon to be discussed, therefore it is necessary to do a research.Objective: To find out whether political education and socialization of the implementation of elections have been effective in increasing public political participation in Majene Regency.Methode: This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods with an inductive approach, where the authors obtain data by means of interviews, observation and documentation Result The level of public political participation in the 2020 simultaneous regional elections, especially in Majene Regency, has increased, even exceeding the targets of the Provincial KPU and the targets of the Central KPU. However, when the author conducted interviews with several people, that the level of political understanding of the community was still lacking, they tended to use their voting rights only to participate in these activities, some were afraid or forced to participate in the election,.Conclusion: Several factors resulted in the lack of knowledge about political education and socialization in Majene Regency, including the lack of interest from the Majene Regency community in receiving political education and socialization and the lack of political education and socialization from the Majene KPUD.
