Abstract

Problem/Background (GAP): The author focuses on the problem of Sindang Beliti Ulu District, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province, which is one of the sub-districts that has a fairly high number of early marriages, which is 30% of the number of normal marriages in the sub-district. Early marriage is a form of deviation from marriage or marriage normally regulated by applicable law. Purpose: This study aims to find out how early marriage is, what are the factors that cause early marriage and how the efforts are made by the government of Sindang Beliti Ulu District. Methods: This research was conducted with an exploratory qualitative method with an inductive approach using interview, observation and archive data collection techniques as well as documentation. Results/Findings: The results showed that early marriage has an impact on population growth. In addition, early marriage has an impact on several other aspects such as health and socio-culture. Conclusion: Early marriage in Sindang Beliti Ulu District, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province can cause various problems, namely health, demographics or population growth and sociocultural impacts on perpetrators. Factors that can cause early marriage are education, economy and lack of parental control. Efforts have been made by the government of the Sindang Beliti Ulu District by inserting an appeal for two words at celebration events and so on. Keywords: early-age marriage; Population growth.
