Abstract

ABSTRACT Problem Statement/Background (GAP): (Contains the background behind the research). The General Election Commission (KPU) of Majene Regency, there were 117,403 voters who were officially registered in the 2020 elections in Majene Regency. Furthermore, the number of voting rights users was 102,313 people. Novice voters often seek political information related to the election, both through print and electronic media, including social media commonly used by the younger generation.Objective: To find out and analyze how easy it is for novice voters in Majene Regency to access political news information via social media.Methode: This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods with an inductive approach, where the authors obtain data by means of interviews, observation and documentation Result: Access to political news information via social media has exceeded 50%, this indicates that more than half of the novice voters have access to political news information via social media. From the research conducted, in Majene district, novice voters showed an interest in political news with a good level. From 100 people there were 64 people who were interested in political news on social media. The level of political participation of novice voters in the 2020 Pilkada is still relatively low. This is shown based on data that out of 100 there are 42 people who have a low level of participation in Majene Regency.Conclusion: access to information (X1) and interest (X2) together affect political participation (Y) by 0.989 or 98.9%. sig value. (2-tailed) is 0.000, as the basis for decision making, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between access to information and interest with the level of political participation of novice voters. Between X1 (access to information) and X2 (interest) has a positive linear relationship (r = 0.993), Between X1 (access to information) and Y (political participation) has a positive linear relationship (r = 0.989), Between X2 (interest) and Y (political participation) has a positive linear relationship (r = 0.984). The conclusion obtained is that there is a relationship between access to information and interest in the political participation of novice voters in Majene Regency.
