Abstract

Problem/Background (GAP): The author focuses on the problem of The empty box phenomenon reduces voter participation because people do not yet have the awareness, understanding, and knowledge of the function of the empty column and its implications if the empty box wins. Purpose: This study aims to determine the community's political participation, the obstacles faced by the Wonosobo Regency KPU, and the right strategy of the Wonosobo Regency KPU in increasing voter participation in dealing with the empty box phenomenon in Wonosobo Regency. Methods: This research was conducted with a semi-qualitative method. The data collection technique was through interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Then the data were analyzed using IFAS and EFAS, SWOT-4K Matrix, and SWOT analysis to produce several strategies. Results/Findings: The results showed that the Wonosobo Regency KPU in increasing voter participation was quite good, but some shortcomings still needed to be improved. Through SWOT analysis, the author can formulate three strategies to increase voter participation in dealing with the empty box phenomenon. Conclusion: Based on the results of the analysis, the authors suggest several things, including the use of technology in organizing elections as a tool for voting, conducting training or training so that the socialization carried out by the KPU is of higher quality, and strengthening coordination of the implementation of the General Election and Regional Head Elections with all stakeholders.
