Abstract
ABSTRACT Problem Statement/Background (GAP): Sinjai Regency faces significant challenges in empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM), particularly in the Lappa Subdistrict. The Rosmah Melati Business Group encounters obstacles such as limited access to capital, minimal business mentoring, and difficulties in expanding market reach. These issues hinder efforts to enhance the welfare and economic independence of the community based on local potential. Therefore, the role of the Department of Trade, Industry, Energy, and Mineral Resources (Disperindag ESDM) of Sinjai Regency is crucial in supporting community empowerment. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the role of Disperindag ESDM Sinjai in community empowerment, focusing on the Rosmah Melati Business Group. Methods: This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis follows the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Results: The study indicates that Disperindag ESDM actively supports the Rosmah Melati Business Group through capacity building by providing technical training, enhancing organizational management, and offering business mentoring. Disperindag ESDM also contributes to economic participation by improving market access, involving the group in policy-making processes, and providing access to productive resources such as business legality, technology, and capital assistance. Despite these efforts, challenges remain in sustaining support and expanding market access. Conclusion: The role of Disperindag ESDM Sinjai is significant in promoting the economic independence of the community through strengthening local potential-based small businesses.
