Abstract
ABSTRACT Problem / Background (GAP): Although the Salo Karajae Festival has become a national event capable of boosting tourism and the local economy, there are challenges in optimizing comprehensive community involvement at the social and cultural levels, as well as in the political and economic management locally. This issue reflects the need for better synergy between social cultural, political, and economic aspects in organizing the Salo Karajae Festival to achieve sustainable tourism development goals that positively impact the community of Parepare City. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the implications resulting from the organization of the Salo Karajae Festival in Parepare City.. Method: This research uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and document studies. The analysis is based on the Theory of Implications by Silalahi (2005) and Community-Based Tourism (CBT) development theory by Suansri (2003). Implications here refer to participation and atmosphere, as each word has connections derived from the implication of words related to participation interconnected within an object.Results: The Salo Karajae Festival as a national event in Parepare City has a significant positive impact on tourism development, evident from increased social participation of the community and preservation of local culture through various traditional attractions. Political support from the local government strengthens the festival’s implementation as a strategy for sustainable tourism development, while the local economy is boosted by increased tourist visits that open opportunities for MSMEs. However, challenges remain regarding equitable community involvement and optimal distribution of economic benefits. Conclusion: The Salo Karajae Festival as a national event in Parepare City positively impacts tourism development by enhancing social participation and preserving local culture, such as traditional dances and music. Support from the local government and the Ministry of Tourism reinforces the festival as a sustainable tourism development strategy. Economically, the festival encourages MSME growth and increases tourist visits, which improves community income. Nevertheless, challenges persist in ensuring equitable community involvement and optimal distribution of economic benefits. Keywords: implication, tourism, Salo Karajae festival. ABSTRAK Permasalahan / Latar Belakang (GAP): Meskipun Festival Salo Karajae telah menjadi event nasional yang mampu meningkatkan pariwisata dan ekonomi lokal, terdapat tantangan dalam mengoptimalkan pelibatan masyarakat secara menyeluruh di tingkat sosial dan budaya, serta dalam pengelolaan politik dan ekonomi lokal. Permasalahan ini mencerminkan perlunya sinergi yang lebih baik antara aspek sosial-budaya, politik, dan ekonomi dalam penyelenggaraan Festival Salo Karajae untuk mencapai tujuan pengembangan pariwisata yang berkelanjutan dan berdampak positif bagi masyarakat Kota Parepare Tujuan: Tujuan dari penelitian ini Apa implikasi yang dihasilkan atas penyelenggaraan Festival Salo Karajae di Kota Parepare Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Peneltian ini dianalisis menggunakan Teori Implikasi, Silalahi (2005) dan teori pengembangan pariwisata CBT, Suansri (2003). implikasi adalah partisipasi dan suasana, karena setiap kata memiliki koneksi yang berasal dari implikasi kata dengan partisipasi yang saling terkait dalam suatu objek Hasil/Temuan: Festival Salo Karajae sebagai event nasional di Kota Parepare memberikan dampak positif yang signifikan dalam pengembangan pariwisata, terlihat dari meningkatnya partisipasi sosial masyarakat dan pelestarian budaya lokal melalui berbagai atraksi tradisional. Dukungan politik dari pemerintah daerah memperkuat penyelenggaraan festival sebagai strategi pembangunan pariwisata berkelanjutan, sementara sektor ekonomi lokal terdorong oleh peningkatan kunjungan wisatawan yang membuka peluang bagi UMKM. Meski demikian, tantangan masih ada dalam hal pelibatan masyarakat secara merata dan distribusi manfaat ekonomi yang optimal. Kesimpulan: Festival Salo Karajae sebagai event nasional di Kota Parepare memberikan dampak positif dalam pengembangan pariwisata melalui peningkatan partisipasi sosial masyarakat dan pelestarian budaya lokal, seperti tarian dan musik tradisional. Dukungan pemerintah daerah dan Kementerian Pariwisata memperkuat festival sebagai strategi pembangunan pariwisata berkelanjutan. Secara ekonomi, festival mendorong pertumbuhan UMKM dan meningkatkan kunjungan wisatawan yang berdampak pada peningkatan pendapatan masyarakat. Namun, tantangan masih ada dalam memastikan keterlibatan masyarakat yang merata dan distribusi manfaat ekonomi yang optimal. Kata Kunci : implikasi, pariwisata, festival salo karajae.
