Abstract
ABSTRACT Problem Statement/Background (GAP): Although Gorontalo Regency has significant potential for corn production, various obstacles hinder the optimization of agricultural results. Decreasing land area and soil fertility, limited human resources, and the ineffectiveness of policy implementation pose major challenges. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the performance of the Gorontalo Regency Agriculture Office in increasing corn production. Method: This research employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Results: The Agriculture Office has demonstrated fairly effective performance in enhancing corn productivity through the provision of superior seeds and agricultural tools. However, challenges remain, such as a lack of agricultural extension workers, limited agricultural infrastructure, and fluctuating corn prices that affect farmers' motivation. Conclusion: To improve program effectiveness, there is a need for better inter-agency coordination, enhancement of extension worker capacity, and strengthening of outreach to farmers regarding sustainable agricultural practices. Keywords: Agriculture Office Performance, Corn Production, Agricultural Optimization ABSTRAK Permasalahan/Latar Belakang (GAP): Meskipun Kabupaten Gorontalo memiliki potensi besar dalam produksi jagung, terdapat berbagai kendala yang menghambat optimalisasi hasil pertanian. Penurunan luas dan kesuburan lahan, keterbatasan sumber daya manusia, serta ketidakefektifan pelaksanaan kebijakan menjadi tantangan utama. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kinerja Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Gorontalo dalam meningkatkan produksi jagung, serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor pendukung dan penghambat yang dihadapi. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil: Dinas Pertanian telah menunjukkan kinerja yang cukup baik dalam meningkatkan produktivitas jagung melalui pemberian bantuan benih unggul dan alat pertanian. Namun, masih terdapat tantangan seperti kurangnya penyuluh, keterbatasan sarana prasarana, dan fluktuasi harga jagung yang mempengaruhi motivasi petani. Kesimpulan: Untuk meningkatkan efektivitas program, diperlukan perbaikan dalam koordinasi antarinstansi, peningkatan kapasitas penyuluh, serta penguatan sosialisasi kepada petani mengenai praktik pertanian yang berkelanjutan.
