Abstract

ABSTRACT Problem Statement/Background (GAP): Fingerprint-based attendance systems are widely implemented to improve employee discipline, including in the Cooperative and UMKM Office of Kepulauan Yapen Regency. However, its effectiveness in enhancing work discipline still faces various technical and non-technical challenges. Purpose: To analyze the effectiveness of fingerprint systems in improving employee including in the Cooperative and UMKM Office of Kepulauan Yapen Regency. Method: This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation. Result: The fingerprint system proves to be quite effective in enhancing attendance targets, employee adaptability, and responsibility. However, challenges such as technical malfunctions, lack of employee awareness, and resistance to new systems still persist. Conclusion: The implementation of the fingerprint system has proven to be quite effective in improving employee discipline through accurate and transparent attendance recording. This system helps reduce unexcused absences and increases employees' sense of responsibility toward working hours. However, challenges such as technical issues and employee resistance to the new system still persist. Therefore, ongoing technical support and continuous socialization are needed to ensure the optimal implementation of the system. Keywords: Effectiveness, Fingerprint, Employee Discipline ABSTRAK Permasalahan/Latar Belakang (GAP): Teknologi fingerprint dalam sistem absensi telah banyak diterapkan untuk meningkatkan kedisiplinan pegawai, termasuk di Dinas Koperasi dan UMKM Kabupaten Kepulauan Yapen. Namun, efektivitasnya dalam mendorong peningkatan disiplin kerja pegawai masih memunculkan berbagai hambatan, baik secara teknis maupun non-teknis. Tujuan: Untuk menganalisis efektivitas penggunaan sistem fingerprint dalam meningkatkan disiplin pegawai di Dinas Koperasi dan UMKM Kabupaten Kepulauan Yapen. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil: Penerapan fingerprint terbukti cukup efektif meningkatkan kedisiplinan melalui pencapaian target kehadiran, kemampuan adaptasi, serta peningkatan kesadaran dan tanggung jawab pegawai. Namun, masih terdapat hambatan seperti gangguan alat fingerprint, rendahnya kesadaran sebagian pegawai, dan resistensi terhadap sistem baru. Kesimpulan: Penerapan sistem fingerprint cukup efektif dalam meningkatkan disiplin pegawai melalui pencatatan kehadiran yang akurat dan transparan. Sistem ini membantu mengurangi ketidakhadiran tanpa keterangan serta meningkatkan tanggung jawab pegawai terhadap waktu kerja. Namun, masih terdapat kendala seperti gangguan teknis dan resistensi pegawai terhadap sistem baru. Oleh karena itu, dukungan teknis dan sosialisasi yang berkelanjutan diperlukan agar implementasi sistem berjalan optimal. Kata Kunci: Efektivitas, Fingerprint, Disiplin Pegawai
