Abstract
ABSTRACT Problem Statement/Background (GAP): Elections are the main means in a democratic system to realize the sovereignty of the people through the election of their representatives in the legislative body. In the 2024 Legislative Election in Tabanan Regency, Bali Province, most of the elected members of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) incumbents successfully retained their seats. The phenomenon is interesting to study further; in political contests, actors/individuals must possess significant capital to compete with their political opponents. Purpose: The purpose of this research is to explain the forms of social capital possessed by the elected members of the Tabanan Regency DPRD and its utilization in elections. Method: This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques are carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of relevant informants. The theory used in this study is social capital by Pierre Bourdie which two dimensions the are habitus and field. Result: The research results show that the elected incumbent members of the DPRD who successfully retained their seats possess forms of social capital that consist of: 1) The habitus of the candidates, which includes their habits, appearance, and demeanor in the community, 2) Social networks or social groups owned by the actors, including the Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI), Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK), Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI), Indonesian Weightlifting, Bodybuilding, and Weightlifting Association (PABBSI), Sekha Gong, and Sekha Teruna, 3) Social interactions between the candidates and their supporters. Conclusion: All of these forms were effectively utilized by the elected members of the DPRD to attract and gain the support of the Tabanan community. Keywords: Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Social capital, Legislative general election ABSTRAK Permasalahan/Latar Belakang (GAP): Pemilihan umum merupakan sarana utama dalam sistem demokrasi untuk mewujudkan kedaulatan rakyat melalui pemilihan wakil-wakilnya di lembaga legislatif. Dalam Pemilu Legislatif Tahun 2024 di Kabupaten Tabanan, Provinsi Bali, sebagian besar anggota DPRD terpilih merupakan calon petahana yang berhasil mempertahankan kursinya. Fenomena ini menarik untuk dikaji lebih lanjut, dalam kontestasi politik para aktor/individu harus memiliki modal yang cukup besar untuk mampu bersaing dengan lawan politiknya. Tujuan: tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan bentuk-bentuk modal sosial yang dimiliki oleh anggota DPRD terpilih Kabupaten Tabanan serta pemanfaatannya dalam pemilu. Metode: penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi terhadap informan yang relevan. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Modal Sosial Pierre Bourdie yang terdiri dari dua dimendi yaitu habitus dan field. Hasil/Temuan : Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa anggota DPRD petahana terpilih yang berhasil mempertahankan kursinya mempunyai bentuk-bentuk modal sosial yang terdiri dari, 1) Habitus caleg yang terdiri dari kebiasaan, penampilan dan pembawaan diri di tengah masyarakat, 2) Jaringan sosial atau kelompok sosial yang dimiliki para aktor dianatranya Komite Nasional Pemuda Indonesia (KNPI), Pemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK), Ikatan Pencak Silat Indonesia (IPSI), Persatuan Angkat Berat, Bina Raga, Angkat Besi Seluruh Indonesia (PABBSI), Sekha Gong, Sekha Teruna, 3) Interaksi sosial antara caleg dengan para pendukungnya. Kesimpulan: Semua bentuk tersebut dimanfaatkan dengan baik oleh anggota DPRD terpilih untuk menarik dan mendapatkan dukungan masyarakat Tabanan.
