Abstract
ABSTRACT Problem Statement/Background (GAP): The problem of civil servant work discipline in government agencies is still a serious concern, especially related to the level of attendance and compliance with regulations. In the Batam City Communication and Informatics Service, the fairly high level of disciplinary violations indicates inefficiency in human resource management. One of the factors suspected of influencing the low discipline is the compensation received by employees. Purpose: This study aims to analyze how much influence compensation, which includes salary, allowances, and facilities, has on civil servant work discipline in the Batam City Communication and Informatics Service. Method: The research method used is a quantitative approach with associative descriptive techniques. The research sample consisted of 33 civil servants, determined through saturated sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed by validity, reliability, simple linear regression, t-test, and coefficient of determination using the SPSS application. Result: The results of the study indicate that compensation has a positive and significant effect on civil servant work discipline. The higher the compensation received, the higher the level of employee discipline. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.410 indicates that 41% of the variation in work discipline can be explained by compensation, while the rest is influenced by other factors such as leadership, motivation, and organizational culture. Conclusion: The compensation system has an important role in shaping the disciplined behavior of civil servants. Therefore, government agencies need to improve the effectiveness of the compensation system as one of the main strategies in building a disciplined and professional work culture. Keywords: Compensation, Civil Servant Work Discipline, Human Resource Management ABSTRAK Rumusan Masalah/Latar Belakang (GAP): Permasalahan disiplin kerja PNS di instansi pemerintah masih menjadi perhatian serius, terutama terkait dengan tingkat kehadiran dan kepatuhan terhadap peraturan. Di Dinas Komunikasi dan Informatika Kota Batam, tingkat pelanggaran disiplin yang cukup tinggi menunjukkan adanya ketidakefisienan dalam pengelolaan sumber daya manusia. Salah satu faktor yang diduga berpengaruh terhadap rendahnya kedisiplinan tersebut adalah kompensasi yang diterima pegawai. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis seberapa besar pengaruh kompensasi, yang mencakup gaji, tunjangan, dan fasilitas, terhadap disiplin kerja PNS di Dinas Komunikasi dan Informatika Kota Batam. Metode: Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik deskriptif asosiatif. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 33 orang PNS, ditentukan melalui teknik sampel jenuh. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis dengan uji validitas, reliabilitas, regresi linear sederhana, uji t, dan koefisien determinasi menggunakan aplikasi SPSS. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompensasi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap disiplin kerja PNS. Semakin tinggi kompensasi yang diterima, semakin tinggi pula tingkat kedisiplinan pegawai. Nilai koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,410 mengindikasikan bahwa 41% variasi dalam disiplin kerja dapat dijelaskan oleh kompensasi, sementara sisanya dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain seperti kepemimpinan, motivasi, dan budaya organisasi. Kesimpulan: Sistem kompensasi memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk perilaku disiplin PNS. Oleh karena itu, instansi pemerintah perlu meningkatkan efektivitas sistem kompensasi sebagai salah satu strategi utama dalam membangun budaya kerja yang disiplin dan profesional.
