Abstract
ABSTRACT Problem Statement/Background (GAP): The author focuses on the issue of the low representation of women in the City Council (DPRD) of Banjarmasin. Purpose: The aim of this research is to determine the roles of female council members in promoting women's representation in the DPRD of Banjarmasin. Methods: This study employs a qualitative research method and analysis based on the concept of roles according to Biddle and Thomas' Theory. Data collection techniques include interviews (6 informants) and documentation. Results: The findings of this research indicate that the roles of female council members in increasing women's representation are relatively adequate, implementation is considered good, and the utilization of results is also good, although still hindered by factors such as lack of qualifications and quality among women, insufficient support among fellow women, and public trust leaning more towards men as the main obstacles. Conclusion: The roles of female council members in efforts to enhance women's representation in the DPRD of Banjarmasin have been fairly successful, attributed to women's empowerment, political education, and affirmative action policies. To increase women's representation, it is recommended to empower women by providing them with training and support, as well as educating the public about the importance of women's roles in politics. Keywords: Roles; Women’s Representation; DPRD ABSTRAK Permasalahan/Latar Belakang (GAP): Penulis berfokus pada permasalahan rendahnya angka keterwakilan perempuan di DPRD Kota Banjarmasin. Tujuan: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apa saja peran anggota dewan Perempuan yang dilakukan terhadap kaum Perempuan untuk meningkatkan keterwakilan Perempuan di DPRD Kota Banjarmasin. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan analisis terhadap konsep peran menurut Teori Biddle dan Thomas. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara (6 informan), dan dokumentasi. Hasil/Temuan: Temuan yang diperoleh penulis dalam penelitian ini yaitu peran anggota dewan Perempuan dalam meningkatkan keterwakilan perempuan tergolong cukup, pada pelaksanaan tergolong baik, dan pemanfaatan hasil tergolong baik, meskipun masih terkendala seperti kurangnya kualifikasi dan kualitas perempuan, minimnya dukungan antar sesama perempuan, serta kepercayaan publik yang lebih condong pada laki-laki menjadi hambatan utama. Kesimpulan: Peran anggota dewan perempuan dalam upaya meningkatkan keterwakilan perempuan di DPRD Kota Banjarmasin telah berjalan dengan baik, hal ini dikarenakan adanya pemberdayaan perempuan, pendidikan politik dan kebijakan afirmatif. Guna meningkatkan angka keterwakilan perempuan, disarankan untuk memberdayakan perempuan dengan memberikan mereka pelatihan dan dukungan, serta mendidik masyarakat tentang pentingnya peran perempuan dalam politik.
