Abstract
Problem Statement/Background (GAP): Natural disasters in Wonosobo from 2018 to 2022 have increased significantly, particularly landslides, which surged from 49 incidents in 2018 to 525 in 2022. In addition to landslides, floods have also risen over the past three years, followed by strong winds and fires, which have shown fluctuations but increased again in 2022, resulting in substantial losses and significant casualties each year. Purpose: This research aims to evaluate the implementation of the disaster-resilient village program in enhancing community disaster preparedness, identify the factors hindering its implementation, and explore the efforts made to overcome these obstacles. Method: This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with an inductive method. The qualitative research process includes formulating questions and procedures, collecting specific data from participants, and analyzing the data inductively. Through observations, interviews, and documentation, the researcher investigates the effectiveness of the disaster-resilient village program in Wonosobo, identifying both successes and obstacles, and interviewing nine key informants, including BPBD officials and community volunteers. The indicators measured include legislation, planning, institutional frameworks, funding, capacity building, and the implementation of disaster management. Among these six indicators, progress has been satisfactory, and any obstacles encountered are being gradually addressed by the government. Result: The findings of this research reveal that the implementation of the disaster-resilient village program has been successful, as evidenced by the six indicators used to measure its implementation, despite encountering several obstacles. Conclusion: The implementation of the disaster-resilient village program has been successful, as evidenced by the six indicators used to measure its implementation, despite encountering several obstacles. Recommendations: It is suggested that the effective implementation of the program be maintained and improved, efficient budget utilization to support disaster management activities, and increased intensity of training and disaster awareness campaigns among the community. Keyword: Natural disasters, Disaster mitigation/response, Disaster-resilient village
