Abstract
Problem Statement/Background (GAP): The Regional Election Commission plays a very important role in building a politically aware society, especially at the local level such as Serang City, Banten Province. Along with population growth and increasing levels of participation in the political process, the number of first-time voters also continues to increase. As this group is the voters who will shape the country's government and policies. Purpose: The main goal of political socialization is to improve a person's political understanding, attitudes, and behavior so that they can participate in an effective political process. Political socialization is a process that takes place throughout a person's life, which begins when they are a child and continues throughout their life. Method: The author uses a descriptive qualitative approach as part of his research strategy. Which in this case the author explains and describes related political socialization programs in Serang City. This research is through qualitative research, so the problems taken are still temporary and will develop later when the author has gone to the field. Result: The results showed that in general the role of the General Election Commission of Serang City in carrying out political socialization for novice voters in preparation for the regional general election in 2024 had been carried out. That is through the implementation of socialization to schools as well as through social media and local radio. However, there are still many shortcomings such as not implementing socialization for all existing schools. Conclusion: Based on the results of the preparation, there needs to be special attention from the General Election Commission to novice voters to provide political socialization related to the upcoming Regional Head Election so that novice voters can participate correctly and with quality Keywords: General Election Commission, Political Socialization, Role, Novice Voters
