Abstract

ABSTRACK Problem/Background (GAP): Utilization of natural resources at this time is something that is very important and necessary for human survival. Through the tourism industry, natural wealth can be managed and utilized through community empowerment to improve the welfare and standard of living of the community. Community empowerment is a process or ability possessed by individuals who are actively involved in social activities. Objective: This research aims to determine the form of community empowerment and the impact of ecotourism-based empowerment on communities around the Jatigede Reservoir area, Sumedang Regency. Method: This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods, using empowerment theory according to Kartasasmita. The data collection techniques used in this research are interview, observation and documentation techniques. Results/Findings: The results of this research show that community empowerment through the use of ecotourism in the Jatigede Reservoir has gone quite well, but the utilization of this potential can be seen from the large number of local communities who take advantage of the ecotourism created. Conclusion: The implementation of empowerment, both through tourism awareness groups and individual communities, has gone quite well, seen from the number of local people who utilize the potential of ecotourism and the impact provided by the ecotourism activities carried out. Keywords: Empowerment, Ecotourism, Utilization of Tourist Attractions ABSTRAK Permasalahan/Latar Belakang : Pemanfaatan kekayaan alam pada saat sekarang ini merupakan suatu hal yang sangat penting dan diperlukan bagi keberlangsungan hidup manusia. Melalui industry pariwisata, kekayaan alam dapat dikelola dan dimanfaatkan melalui pemberdayaan masyarakat untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan serta taraf hidup masyarakat tersebut. Pemberdayaan masyarakat adalah proses atau kemampuan yang dimiliki individu yang terlibat secara aktif dalam kegiatan sosial. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk pemberdayaan masyarakat serta dampak pemberdayaan berbasis ekowisata tersebut untuk masyarakat yang berada di sekitar kawasan Waduk Jatigede Kabupatn Sumedang. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif menggunakan teori pemberdayaan menurut Kartasasmita. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Teknik wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil/Temuan : Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui pemanfaatan ekowisata yang ada di Waduk Jatigede telah berjalan cukup baik namun pemanfaatan potensi tersebut dapat dilihat dari banyaknya masyarakat sekitar yang memanfaatkan ekowisata yang tercipta. Kesimpulan: Pelaksanaan pemberdayaan baik melalui kelompok sadar wisata maupun individu masyarakat sudah berjalan cukup baik dilihat dari banyaknya masyarakat setempat yang memanfaatkan potensi ekowisata tersebut serta dampak yang diberikan dari adanya aktifitas ekowisata yang dilakukan.
