Abstract
Desa/Kalurahan Mandiri Budaya is one of the programs of the Provincial Government of the Special Region of Yogyakarta aimed at accelerating village development and improving the quality of human resources, especially rural communities, as well as efforts to maintain and preserve local indigenous customs and culture by developing the potential and uniqueness of each village in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and its implementation involves participation and ability of local communities. The locus of this research is Kalurahan Girikerto, Kapanewon Turi, Sleman Regency which has united as a Desa/Kalurahan Mandiri Budaya and has run and developed the Desa/Kalurahan Mandiri Budaya program. So the title taken in this study is "COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT AFTER THE CHANGE TO BECOME A CULTURAL INDEPENDENT VILLAGE (STUDY IN KALURAHAN GIRIKERTO, KAPANEWON TURI, SLEMAN REGENCY, YOGYAKARTA SPECIAL REGION PROVINCE)”. The research design used is by using qualitative research. Data collection is done by observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques in the form of data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results of research on Community Empowerment of Kalurahan Girikerto through the Desa/Kalurahan Mandiri Budaya Program in Kalurahan Girikerto Kapanewon Turi have been carried out well. Based on observations, interviews, and documentation in the field, there have been government efforts to increase community empowerment through the Desa/Kalurahan Mandiri Budaya Program by presenting the necessary facilities and infrastructure and human resource development has been carried out by the local Office and by the Girikerto Village Government. Suggestions to the Government of Kalurahan Girikerto and related agencies in the Desa/Kalurahan Mandiri Budaya program are to increase public awareness of education and increase coordination and communication between the community, local village governments, and related agencies because the implementation involves many parties so as to minimize misunderstandings and form a common understanding and one common goal.
