Abstract

Problem Statement/Background (GAP): The Sipangsi application is an official forum launched by the General Elections Commission to provide information to the public, especially the city of South Tangerang in order to see information about election schedules, profiles of candidates for regional heads who are running, even about the KPU institution itself. This study explores the significant influence of the SIPANGSI application on community spatial in the South Tangerang city election. Purpose: This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of SIPANGSI application, explore obstacle factors and efforts made by the KPU Institute in overcoming obstacles to the use of the SIPANGSI application in increasing community participation in the South Tangerang City Election. Methods: This research uses qualitative methods with a descriptive approach and uses the theory of the influence of the internet on participation by Shah, et al as an analysis knife. Result: The Effect of Using the Sipangsi application as a means or forum for KPU institutions in the city of South Tangerang in providing information services to the community is able to help the community in providing easy access to be opened anywhere and anytime, equipped with useful features from this application is considered very helpful for the public in obtaining information about the profile of the KPU institution in the city of South Tangerang, Recapitulation of vote results in elections and regional elections, checking voter lists and others. However, in its implementation, there are still obstacles that occur, namely the Sipangsi application has not been disseminated or socialized to the people of South Tangerang city, so that there are still many people in South Tangerang city who do not know about this Sipangsi application, the KPU has followed up on these obstacles by socializing the Sipangsi application. Conclusion: The use of the Sipangsi application as a means or forum for the KPU institution of South Tangerang city in providing information services to the community is able to help the community in providing easy access to be opened anywhere so that community participation increases even though there are still people in South Tangerang City who do not know this application.
