Abstract
The author focuses on the rapid development of information and communication technology so that adjustments are needed so that public information services can keep abreast of ongoing developments. Public information services aim to be able to meet the information needs of the community. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out how the role of the Department of Communication and Information Technology in providing public information services through the Kondite application in Pangkalpinang City is, the inhibiting factors and the efforts made by the Pangkalpinang City Communication and Information Office. Methods: This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with an inductive approach and analysis of the role theory of Minztberg. Data collection techniques using in-depth interviews (6 informants), documentation and observation. Results/Findings: Many people do not know about the Kondite Application managed by Diskominfo and the lack of human resources in managing and developing the Kondite application. Conclusion: That the role of the Department of Communication and Information Technology in providing public information services through Kondite is going well, but there are still obstacles, namely not many people know about Kondite's public information services. So that researchers have a suggestion that the Department of Communications and Information Technology should conduct socialization regarding Kondite's public information services.
