Abstract
ABSTRACT Problem Statement/Background (GAP): The author focuses on issues regarding the importance of healthy and safe public information in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and the existence of hoax news and information circulating among the public from unclear sources. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the use of the Communications and Informatics Service Website in disseminating information on a Healthy and Safe Internet in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: This study uses a qualitative method with an inductive approach. The data collection technique used purposive sampling technique and accidental sampling technique. Utilization Theory by Chin and Todd (Davis, 1989). Furthermore, in drawing conclusions, data were obtained by conducting interviews, observations and documentation studies. Results: The findings obtained by the authors in this study are that there is a need for the internet to access information in cyberspace during the Covid-19 pandemic, so that it requires a reliable source to obtain information. Digital literacy is useful so that people can process information more wisely. Conclusion: Utilization of the Jayapura City Communication and Information Office website has several benefits including convenience, increasing the effectiveness of individual performance and increasing productivity. Apart from the benefits of using the website, there are internal obstacles in the form of inadequate facilities and human resources as well as external barriers from the community, namely the presence of features that are not functioning and access to the website is quite slow. Therefore, the Department of Communication and Informatics makes efforts and strategies to overcome existing obstacles, such as preparing a Strategic Plan (Renstra) by developing communication and information programs.
