Abstract

Problem Statement/Background (GAP): The Equator Monument is one of the most famous icons in West Kalimantan. The Youth, Sports and Tourism Office of Pontianak City, West Kalimantan Province has the task of preparing and formulating technical policies in the field of attractiveness and governance of tourism destinations, facilities and infrastructure. This is intended so that tourists are interested in coming to the city of Pontianak, especially at the Equator Monument which is an icon of this city. This task aims to increase foreign tourist visits to Pontianak City. The construction at the Equator Monument that has been implemented has also not been able to have a significant impact on the number of tourist visits each month which has actually decreased. Then with the covid-19 pandemic, the location of the Equator Monument cannot be visited by tourists. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to collect data and then analyze it to obtain results that can provide an overview of the development of tourist objects, how to develop tourist objects and describe what factors are the obstacles, as well as the efforts made in overcoming these factors. the inhibiting factor. Method: The research design used in this study is a qualitative research using descriptive methods and inductive approaches. Data collection techniques using 4 ways, namely, interviews, observation, documentation and triangulation. Then the data collected is analyzed starting from data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Result: The results of this study indicate that there are several inhibiting factors in terms of resources, namely facilities, infrastructure supporting tourism activities are inadequate and obstacles to the attractiveness of tourist objects, so that tourists who come to the Equator Monument tourist attraction only come in a short time because lack of supporting facilities and infrastructure. Conclusion: The development of tourism objects is not optimal and there are still obstacles in implementing the policy. The author gives advice to the Government and city building partners to pay more attention to the facilities and infrastructure supporting tourism activities, such as public toilets and chairs for visitors. Governments and city development partners need to readjust about paying attention to visitors, such as how tourists can rest. This certainly increases the retail value of the tourist attraction and helps tourists enjoy the attraction. Keywords: Tourism, Objects, Development
