Abstract

Problem Statement/Backgorund (GAP): The Covid-19 pandemic has caused many problems in the world, including Indonesia. As one of the front lines in handling Covid-19 in Indonesia, the civil service police unit (Satpol-PP) is required to have qualified competence in order to carry out their duties properly. Based on several previous studies, it was found that the provision of compensation was able to improve the performance of Satpol-PP, while performance was an advanced form of competence itself. Therefore, the author conducted a study entitled "The Impact of Compensation on Increasing the Competence of Satpol-PP Lahat Regency, South Sumatra Province". Purpose: Based on the questions from the formulation of the problem, this study aims to determine competence, the existing compensation system and the impact of compensation on increasing the competence of the Lahat Regency Satpol-PP. Method: This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with an inductive approach. Data were collected through the process of observation, interviews and documentation. Then from the data that has been collected, an analysis of the impact of compensation is carried out on increasing the competency dimension according to Lyle Spencer and Signe Spenser (in Pratiwi, 2018). Result: From the results of the analysis, it is concluded that the provision of compensation has a fairly good impact on increasing the competence of Satpol-PP. Where the provision of compensation both financial and non-financial can increase the dimensions of knowledge, skills, encouragement and self-concept. However, it does not have an impact on increasing the character dimensions of the Lahat District civil service police unit. Keywords: impact, compensation, competence
